Planning for a Renovation

March 15, 2019

I recently came across some guidelines and worksheets provided by the Canadian Homebuilders’ Association to assist homeowners with planning for a new build or renovation project. Whether you are working with a designer or not, this information can help with defining your goals, prioritizing your wants and needs and staying within budget. This is a great resource to help you get clear on your goals and demystify the design and renovation process. The website contains clear and concise information to help inform and prepare homeowners for what can be a stressful but ultimately fulfilling process.

Here are some links to information that can be found on the CHBA Website:

Buying a New Home

Renovating an Existing Home

Search for a Professional Contractor

Housing Statistics in Canada

Many of these same tools can be used when planning for any changes in your home. The more clear you are on your budget and goals, the more successful your project will ultimately end up.

Happy Renovating!

It was exciting to see the progress on our new home in Thornbury this past weekend. It definitely feels like a cozy little nest with the forest right at our back door. 🌳
Impromptu vacation this week! Booked one our favorite getaways on Friday and arrived on Saturday to find the rooms had been renovated with these beautiful light woods. So refreshing. #inspiringdesign #celebrating50allyear #vitaminsea
Here’s a sneak peak of the exterior of my new house. Read my blog post (link in bio) to find out why I chose this model. Hint: it has nothing to do with cooking because I am the absolute worst! 🤷‍♀️

Time to transition to your Fall wardrobe! 🍁 I designed this closet a couple years ago and still can’t get over how easy it is to stay organized when a space is fully customized to your needs. #functionalclosetdesign #aplaceforeverything #fallo
You just can’t beat the clean lines of custom cabinetry done right. What a great spot for curling up with a book and a nice glass of wine. A perfect area to enjoy the beauty that fall brings. I encourage everyone to make your home a sanctuary f
